(West Chester, Ohio ) – As working people prepare to bring their concerns to the West Chester Board of Trustees meeting this evening regarding its proposed “right to work” law, Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga issued the following statement:

“It is my hope that the trustees will abandon their unnecessary and divisive consideration of a so-called right to work law.  Not only is this an area of unsettled law with the prospect of costly litigation, the facts clearly show that this anti-worker policy does not spur job growth, downgrades the local economy and erodes the high standards of the community.  Right to work is wrong for Ohio and the trustees should direct their attention to matters that will actually benefit the citizens they represent.”

“So called right to work laws lower wages and make workplaces less safe.  Working people are speaking out against such laws because they realize they are a false slogan being pushed by extremists and out of state billionaires in spite of the harm it will bring.”
