With The Passing of Stewart Jaffy, Ohio Lost A True Champion For Worker Safety

The Ohio AFL-CIO received the sad news from the family of Stewart Jaffy that Mr. Jaffy died on Monday, July 22, 2019.  Mr. Jaffy was the author of the Ohio AFL-CIO Workers’ Compensation Institute manual for many years and did great work on behalf of injured workers.  I am truly sorry to learn of his passing and take comfort in knowing that his life’s work helped so  many workers and Ohioans.

Stewart was the founder of the Annual Workers’ Compensation Institute held by the Ohio AFL-CIO each year that trains union leaders on the guidelines and process of the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation should someone be hurt on the job.

The Ohio AFL-CIO is grateful for the counsel and friendship of our beloved brother Stew. Workers across Ohio have benefited greatly from Mr. Jaffy’s knowledge and actions and we will always remember him as a pioneer for justice in the state fedration’s Workers’ Compensation Institute. From the state Labor community, I offer our deepest sympathies – Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga.
