ANOTHER EXTREME ATTACK ON OUR COLLECTIVE BARGAINING RIGHTS
Rep. Derek Merrin (R-47th) has proposed a bill that would strip away public employees’ rights to collectively bargain for the number of sick days in their contracts. This unnecessary attack on working people does nothing to benefit Ohio and is a first step to take away our voice on the job.

By mandating the reduction of sick leave days, the General Assembly would be curtailing what can be collectively bargained. Working people should have the right to speak with one voice and negotiate together for a fair benefits package.
OHIOANS ALREADY REJECTED ATTACKS ON WORKERS BY DEFEATING SB5/ISSUE 2.
In 2011, Ohioans resoundingly rejected previous attacks on working people, but legislators like Merrin insist on pushing these unfair measures. The General Assembly should focus on adequately funding state needs, not going after teachers, nurses, firefighters, police and other public employees.
